Newton's best-known and best-loved hymn is "Amazing Grace." It was the story of his life. It was only by grace that God saved a "wretch like me," that made his spiritually blind eyes see. In old age Newton would say, "My memory is nearly gone, but I remember two things--that I am a great sinner and that Christ is a great Savior."
